| A saved GPS route consists of two or more waypoints. Saved routes have several advantages over GOTO routes. First, you can create and save multiple routes in your receiver. Second, a route can contain many waypoints. As you pass each one, the receiver automatically navigates to the next waypoint. The moving map display also shows your route. In addition, the unit retains the active route while the receiver is off. When you next check your progress, the GPS unit shows your desired route as well as the distance and direction to the next waypoint. This saves having to create a new GOTO route each time you turn the receiver on. This is especially useful in the field where you want to conserve batteries. | ||||
