FOBB 2002: Lofty Goals From Martis Peak

During the 2002 ARS Flight of the Bumblebees, Jim Duffy, W6EU, and I made 60 Q's (36 bees) for 6,480 points from Martis Peak which overlooks Lake Tahoe to the South and the town of Truckee, CA to the North.

We used a K1 at 5 watts to Jim's 40 meter linear loaded dipole, featured recently in QST magazine, drooped from about 40 feet and a 20meter dipole drooped from about 35 feet.

Fifty of the Qs were on 20 meters, 9 on 40 and only 1 on 15. Activity was very low on 40 and 15 although they were certainly open.

Let's see if we can get people to spread out more, both across multiple bands and around each gathering frequency. I don't think I made a single 20 meter contact outside 14.057 to 14.063 but there were often three or four stations within a few Hertz of each other.
